My research interests revolve around the theme of characterizing the development of engineering thinking in informal learning environments.
Specifically, I conduct research on design thinking and mathematical thinking — how students and practitioners engage in desing thinking and mathematical thinking and how students develop design thinking and mathematical thinking abilities. The research studies I am involved in span preschool students through adult practicing professionals.
The informal learning environments I look at may take place inside of school structures as well as outside of school structures.
